PLANNING A LAST MINUTE TRIP TO CATLANTA?

Our Wildcats are once again headed to the Sweet Sixteen after an unexpected path presented itself in Boise.  The trend will continue in Atlanta as the Cats avoid potential matchups with top seeded Virgina and the number 2 seed UC Bearcats.  There are still ballgames to win but the likelihood of seeing Kentucky win the South Regional to go to the Final Four has become very real.  With most of Big Blue Nation within a 5 to 6 hour drive to Atlanta, we could see a whole lot of blue in, and around, Phillips Arena on Thursday and Saturday.  If you are concerned about hotel and ticket availability there are stil plenty of rooms available and tickets on many secondary ticketing websites.  Here is what I found with a quick look while booking my stay next weekend in Catlanta.

Hotels

Having gone to many SEC Tournaments in Atlanta, I have a pretty good feel for the options available but I still like to research the trip.  The majority of my vacations I use a site like booking.com , but for trips where I want to be close to a specific arena or stadium I really like hotelguides.com .  You will find rooms still available within a mile ofthe venue that are under $200/night.  Most of the action is usually centered around the CNN Center where the arena is located.  Plenty of bars and restaurants there to mingle with all of BBN.  The Midtown area is not a bad option either as it is just a short Uber or Marta ride away and rooms there could save a ltittle towards a game ticket.

Tickets

As of Monday morning UK season ticket holders with a priority rank of 1-3000 in the KFund have been contacted about purchasing from Kentucky's allotment.  Those of us outside of that status have to resort to other means.  One option is to to check with other schools allotment.  The word on Monday is that Loyaola Chicago had unused tickets to sell.  The UKAthletics site will take you to a link(I'll save you  a couple of clicks) through the NCAA Ticket Exchange at Primesport .I've used them in the past and did like the convienence and peace of mind knowing they were an official affiliate of the NCAA.  Last year in Memphis, I purchased a ticket a few hours before the UCLA game using the SeatGeek app. I was able to secure a club level seat at below face value(which I may or may not have self upgraded to midcourt front row thanks to encouragement from https://twitter.com/TrvlngSportFan ).  This will probably be my preferred method again in Atlanta.

I hope to see y'all down there in Catlanta(I've got some work and childsitting juggling to figure out) helping our Cats push through to San Antonio.  Thanks for reading,  Go Cats!!
