KENTUCKY FOOTBALL VIA NEW ORLEANS

Hattiesburg Express

No, I haven't lost my mind and begun to book reservations for a Wildcat appearance in  the Sugar Bowl.  But I will run a transportation idea by you regarding the Wildcats' season opener in Hattiesburg against Southern Mississippi.  The New Orleans chapter of the UK Alumni Association http://www.ukalumni.net   is organizing a bus trip to Hattiesburg leaving the morning of the game and returning the same day.   The details are on the website with a link to purchase tickets.   If you have some extra vacation days to burn, and maybe some airline miles too,  why not make a long weeekend out of it in the Big Easy.  Not a bad way to spend a Friday through Monday.

The Traditional Route

The idea of a football road trip from New Orleans, sandwiched by a few days in the French Quarter,  seems appealing but maybe not entirely practical.  For those of you still considering the traditional roadtrip to Hattiesburg, it's not too late to make plans.   With just a little over two weeks before kickoff, the ticket and hotel situation still look good.  Single game away(all away games except South Carolina) tickets are still available through http://www.ukathletics.com .  It's not surprising that hotel prices have risen since my last check but there are still many options available.  There are three different www.Marriott.com  available within a mile of the stadium.

You Can't Lose

Either one of those options would be a great way to spend a Saturday.   For those Cat fans that live down on the bayou, the bus trip presents a care free ride to the game.   I would expect that bus ride back to be a fun trip, with the party carrying right on to the French Quarter.  If you need to sleep off that hurricane or hand grenade  there are still plenty of great rates for hotels  available that weekend on sites like www.booking.com.   Whichever route you choose to get to Hattiesburg just make sure that you bring us home a winner.  Thanks for reading… and Go Cats!!
