The opening words to the Rolling Stones classic Sympathy for the Devil go on to say "I'm a man of wealth and taste". I certainly don't qualify as man of wealth and my taste is hit or miss depending on who you ask. "Won't you guess my name," the song continues. I can think of at least four different names I could answer to depending on who it is that's calling for me. Since my parents named me Jeff that's what we'll roll with. I've always kicked around the idea of blogging before and with some free time on my hands this summer it seemed like a good time to give it a whirl. When I was a kid I would write movie scripts for me and some of the neighbor kids.(NERD!!) Those scripts never got put to use since no one I knew actually had a movie camera.(Kids today have it easy) In high school and college any assignment that involved writing usually came pretty efoasy for me. Most of those high school assignments were usually of the punishment variety. Once I started my airline job the most writing I did was an occasional grocery list. So bear with me as I shake off the rust. This is largely a creative outlet for myself, but if I'm able to provide some helpful travel tips along the way then this is a win win situation.
Pleased to Meet You
As I mentioned in my first post, my favorite part of traveling to the big UK sports events is just being part of the BBN. Before social media, annual trips to Atlanta for the SEC Tournament were great ways to meet UK fans and discuss UK basketball during the long weekend. The social media era has given people with common interests the ability to connect and discuss those interests to their hearts content. For this UK fan, the enjoyment I got from meeting those other Wildcat fans in the pre social media days can now be had all year long. I've met numerous people at Wildcat games who I wouldn't have had we not followed each other on Twitter.
The Nature of my Game
My hope for this site would be that one day this could also be used as a source of communication between fans and for information on thngs such as pre and post game gatherings. For out of town games I plan on posting current hotel and ticket prices. These are things I research ad nauseam for any of my trips with family or friends so I may as well be sharing it with others. I have some travel coming in the near future and look forward to posting those experiences. One of those trips may be Hollywood Beach, Florida so if anyone out there on the interweb has any tips for me hit me up @BigBlueTrippin on Twitter. Thanks so much for reading.
