GETTING BACK IN THE FLOW..AND THROWING AXES

The Part About Getting Back in the Flow                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Hey y'all,  I hope everyone reading has enjoyed their summer and had a chance to get out on the lake, or put your toes in the sand, or whatever adventure gave you the opportunity to escape the daily grind.  I haven't been much into blogging over the summer as I've just been trying to get back in the flow of a daily routine which included my eventual return to a full work schedule.  Truth be told, our travel schedule has been pretty light over the past several months, so there hasn't been too much for me to blog about in terms of travel.  We did manage a much needed week in Destin at the end of July with Mom which will probably find it's way to the  blog sooner or later.

The Part About Throwing  Axes

While most of our summer weekends have been pretty low key, that hasn't meant we've locked ourselves in the house the entire summer.  In early July many of my family members were invited to the opening of the new  Flying Axes location in Covington.   My (cousin-in-law?) Dave Durand, is part of an ownership group opening their second location (the 1st is in Louisville) , with plans to open more locations regionally.  The location was what I knew as the former Tickets sports bar and was an old firehouse long before my bar hopping days.  The downstairs area has been converted to several axe throwing lanes and a bar.  My throwing attempts will not be found on any "how to" videos any time soon, but sticking that one bullseye did give me a brief rush of medieval baddassery.   While I may not have been able to consistently stick the axe in the wood target area,  I wouldn't let that stop me from returning as part of a night out with friends.  The Flying Axes location near the Covington Mainstrasse area would make a good starting spot for a night out.   The weekend of September 7-9 is the Octoberfest weekend in Covington and would be a perfect opportunity to check out the new spot, have a few brews,  and toss some hatchets.

Here is a brief YouTube video that aired on the local news prior to the July opening.  (I see you hitting bullseyes Dave)

Thanks for reading, see y'all around
