Catching Up On The Site

Hey blog, it’s been a minute…or two. The last time I posted was November 2024 and Kentucky basketball was just beginning the Mark Pope era. I gave my first game impressions and , based on 40 minutes of hoops, made a fairly close prediction of a 22-9 regular season. The Cats ended up at 21-10 and would go on to win one game in the SEC tournament and two in the NCAA tournament finishing the season at 24-12. Overall, a pretty respectable season especially considering the circumstances of building an entire roster on short notice.

This current Wildcat season has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. A large reason for the inconsistent play could be attributed to the injuries of key players. Shuffling the lineups during the first half of the season based on who was available has been replaced with limited options but more security to those who are healthy and in the rotation. We are currently at the halfway mark of conference play with a 6-3 record. I’m sure most of BBN would take a 6-3 record to finish out the regular season but the Wildcats have a back loaded schedule of tough games ahead. I’ve said since league play began that a 9-9 SEC record would be good enough to get to the NCAA tournament. However, the Cats have put themselves in position to finish at least 10-8 and anything less would seem a disappointment.

That’s about it from the UK basketball standpoint. When I first started this blog it was not only to talk about UK sports, but the travel aspect of going to games and also travel in general. I’ve missed opportunities to share the experiences I’ve had over the last 15 months or so but hope to get back to doing this on a more regular basis. Next on the trip agenda is a quick trip down to Rupp Arena this coming Saturday for the Tennessee game. After that the travel ledger is unclear. I think I’ve missed two SEC Tournament trips in over 20 years but am very much on the fence about a trip to Nashville this year. I do have a bit of a spring break adventure coming up with the family that includes Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon. That’s a trip that should provide some pics and videos worth sharing and will certainly make some good family memories. Well. that’s it until the next time. As always, thanks for reading.
