THE ROAD TO SAN ANTONIO BEGINS HERE

Busy Days Ahead For UK Fans

The Kentucky Wildcats begin their season in Rupp arena tonight.  The game tonight  marks the beginning of the journey for the basketball team, and a busy period for UK fans of both football and basketball who like to follow their team on the road.  The football Wildcats have an afternoon game on Saturday in Nashville.  Pair that game with the NFL contest on Sunday between the Bengals and Titans, and it makes for an appealing trip for those Wildcat fans who happen to be a fan of either of those NFL teams.  I have found rooms more difficult to come by for this weekend than most of our previous SEC tournament trips to Nashville.  Can Saturday nights be any more crowded that they usually are on Broadway anyway?

Windy City Wildcats

If you have been waiting for Kentucky basketball to return, you should get your fill during this first week.  After beginning the season Friday night, the Cats follow up with a potentially tough Sunday evening game and finish the 3 games in 5 days stretch with the annual Champions Classic.  This year the rotating site brings the event to Chicago in a matchup against Kansas.  I feel like this is the event that unofficially kicks off the college basketball season.  It has been one of my favorite event to attend, so I am a little bummed that I didn't make plans to go this season.  If you are looking at last minute accomodations there are still plenty of options available over at TripAdvisor.com.  If you make the trip, you may want to check out the pregame pep rally   put on by the UK Alumni group.  I went to a previous one in Chicago and it's a great way to hang out with a bar full of Kentucky fans.

Don't Forget The Big Apple

Another upcoming UK road trip that has some appeal is the December 9th game in New York City.  The Cats are scheduled for a game against Monmouth in Madison Square Garden.  Sure, the Wildcats have bigger names on the schedule but it's NEW YORK CITY AT CHRISTMAS TIME WITH KENTUCKY FANS!  I think that sounds rather appealing.   I'm still seeing tickets at the time of this post for around $60 on the secondary market.  The game tickets probably won't be you're biggest expense in New York.  Again, check TripAdvisor.com for rates and availability.

Let's Get It Started

While the basketball team begins their season long journey tonight(hopefully ending in San Antonio),  many of us,myself included, take off on a jouney to Nashville in the morning. I'm expecting to see the normal BBN takeover of Broadway and I'll be checking  the Twitter machine to see if any of my favorite UK fans I've followed over the years made the trip.  Give me a holler if you see me down there @BigBlueTrippin or @Bluecat20.   Safe travels to all and Go Cats!
